Rīgas satiksme invites residents of Ukraine to extend the discount for free travel on public transport
Residents of Ukraine who have registered their place of residence in Riga will be able to continue using a 100% fare discount on Riga public transport until 31 December 2026. Ukrainian residents can obtain the 100% discount for the next period at ticket vending machines located at public transport stops or in shopping centres. Therefore, Rīgas satiksme encourages Ukrainian civilians to visit the ticket machines and load the 100% discount onto their existing e-tickets (e-talons). There is no need to issue a new e-ticket to receive the discount.
The discount can also be arranged in person at any customer service centre of Rīgas satiksme. A personal identification document, a residence permit or confirmation of a personal identification number assignment must be presented, as well as a personalised e-ticket or “Rīdzinieka karte” (Riga Resident Card), if already issued. If a person does not have an e-ticket, it will be issued during the visit.
Fare concessions on Riga public transport - tram, trolleybus, and bus - are available to those Ukrainian civilians who have registered their place of residence in Riga.
Children from Ukraine who have already issued and received their Student Card do not need to take any further action and may continue to use public transport with a 100% discount.
Rīgas satiksme reminds that every passenger who has been granted a fare discount must, when boarding a bus, trolleybus, or tram, tap their issued e-ticket on the electronic card reader and register the journey. A green signal on the validator confirms successful registration. During ticket inspections, the validated e-ticket must be presented to the inspector.
More information about the services offered by Rīgas satiksme, route timetables, ticket types, and other updates is available on the website www.rigassatiksme.lv or on social media platforms X, Facebook and Threads.
